The movie follows Eddie Mannix (Brolin), a "fixer" working in the Hollywood movie industry in the 1950s, trying to discover what occurred to a cast member who disappears during shooting.
First revealed in 2004, the movie was initially set to revenue place in the 1920s plus follow actors performing a play about antique Rome. The Coens deferred the idea until late 2013, when they stated it was in expansion. Principal photography started in November 2014 in Los Angeles, California. The movie will open February 5, 2016 plus open the 66th Berlin International Movie Festival on February 11.
